Diane Hidy's Piano Teaching Questionnaire

July 12, 2016 Diane Hidy
Diane Hidy's Piano Teaching Questionnaire

Many teachers have written to me asking for help with their studio policy. In their emails, it's become clear to me that there are basic questions they need to answer before they try to write a studio policy that will work for them.

I've created this survey in the interest of helping these teachers, and all teachers think through these issues. It's a 7- page downloadable pdf. It's designed to be printed out and completed for yourself. I'm not trying to compile data, I'm trying to help you - the independent studio piano teacher - become clearer about what you want in your life.

I wish that someone had given me this tool when I was getting started. It would have helped a lot!

Feel free to download it and share it with your friends and colleagues. I only ask that you not repost the survey itself on the web. Please link back to this page if you'd like to share it.

I hope that you will find it helpful.

Diane Hidy's Piano Teaching Questionnaire

If you feel like you're saying the same thing over and over again, you might find my Thesaurus for Teachers and Adjudicators helpful.

Curious how to find all the interesting props I use in my studio? Check out my Teaching Toolbox page.

Do you need a ladybug for your studio? That's one of my personal solutions for teaching a healthy hand position.

If you need a shot of excitement, I highly recommend the Pepper Books by Elissa Milne, the brilliant Australian composer. They have perked up my teaching in ways I could never have imagined. My spring recital featured at least five different students playing solos and duets from these books.

There are books at many different levels, each with a tangy, fresh feel.

Take a moment to look at them. You'll be so glad you did!
