Post-it Pull-offs

Audrey was FRUSTRATED. She was having trouble reading in bass clef. I wanted her to write in the letter names and play the intervals from her Piano Town Theory Book each day, but didn't want to overwhelm her.

I used post-its to create a series of daily pull-offs. Each day she pulled off one post-it to see the new "interval -of-the-day."

Instead of feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, she had a tiny task that had the feel of an Advent Calendar. "Open one tiny window each day," sounds exciting and interesting to a kid.

"Hiding" things from kids can be an effective way to draw them into an otherwise hard-sell assignment.

Look at her smile.
