April Song (Studio License)

(Listen and watch April Song below.)

April Song is a hauntingly beautiful piece. I wrote it using simple patterns to evoke a bittersweet sadness. It makes an excellent contrast to March Song, the piece from the previous month.

Written in the style of my Attention Grabber books, I've omitted the key signature and opted for sharps and flats written on the notes themselves. I've found this to be much easier for my beginning and intermediate students. (There's plenty of time for key signatures later.)

I wrote this piece to give early intermediate students a chance to show their more expressive selves. There are opportunities to teach rubato, variations in tempo and mood, and even how to make a big, dramatic ritard to finish the piece.

This piece can also easily be taught by rote.

I hope you and your students will enjoy it.
